You’re not looking to waste half a day at a shop. You need your windshield fixed or replaced without disrupting your schedule, and you need it done right so your car’s safety systems actually work when you need them.
That’s what mobile service means here. You stay at home, at work, or wherever makes sense for you. We come to your driveway or parking lot. No waiting rooms, no rental cars, no back-and-forth about when your parts finally came in.
If your car has a front-facing camera, we calibrate it on-site with the right equipment. If you’re filing an insurance claim, we handle that directly so you’re not stuck playing middleman. And if something goes wrong down the road, our lifetime warranty covers it. You get your time back and your car handled by someone who’s done this over 10,000 times across Long Island.
First Class Auto Glass started in 2016, but the experience behind it goes back over twenty years. This isn’t a franchise with rotating technicians. It’s one person running the business, doing the work, and answering the phone when you call.
That matters more than it sounds like it should. When you’re dealing with someone who’s been in the industry this long and still shows up to every job, you’re not getting the runaround. You’re getting someone who knows how North Hempstead roads tear up windshields, what insurance companies actually cover, and how to recalibrate the safety systems in newer cars without cutting corners.
Dinitrol certified, New York State licensed as a mobile repair shop, and fully insured. North Hempstead, Manhasset, Great Neck, Port Washington—all of Nassau County and into Queens. If you’re local, you’re covered.
You call or text with details about the damage and your car. If you’re going through insurance, we sort that out right then—what’s covered, what your deductible is, whether you need to do anything on your end. Most of the time, we handle it directly and you don’t pay out of pocket.
We schedule a time that works for your day. The mobile unit shows up with everything needed for the job—glass, tools, calibration equipment if your car has ADAS. The damaged glass comes out, the new one goes in with high-grade urethane adhesive, and if there’s a camera involved, we calibrate it on-site using the manufacturer’s specs.
The whole process takes a few hours depending on the vehicle. You’re given a safe drive-away time so the adhesive cures properly. Before we leave, you get documentation for the work and warranty details. That’s it. No follow-up appointments, no “come back next week for calibration.” We handle it completely the first time.
Ready to get started?
Windshield replacement and repair, obviously. But also side windows, back glass, sunroof glass, and door glass. If it’s auto glass and it’s broken, we fix or replace it.
For newer vehicles—and this is most cars on the road in North Hempstead now—ADAS calibration is part of the job, not an upsell. Lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking—all of those systems rely on a camera mounted behind your windshield. When that glass gets replaced, the camera has to be recalibrated or those systems won’t work right. We do that on-site with OEM-approved targets and diagnostic equipment, and you get documentation proving it was done to spec.
We handle insurance claims directly with your provider. That means direct billing, paperwork filed on your behalf, and someone who actually knows what your policy covers walking you through it. If you’re paying out of pocket, pricing is straightforward and discussed up front.
The lifetime warranty covers the work for as long as you own the vehicle. If the seal leaks, if there’s an issue with the installation, we fix it at no cost. North Hempstead’s freeze-thaw cycles and summer heat are tough on auto glass, so that warranty isn’t just for show.
If your car was made after 2018, there’s a very good chance it has a forward-facing camera mounted to the windshield. That camera feeds data to systems like lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.
When the windshield gets replaced, that camera’s position shifts—even slightly—and the systems stop working accurately. You might not notice right away, but your lane-keeping assist could be off by a few inches, or your forward collision warning might not trigger when it should. Recalibration realigns the camera to the manufacturer’s specifications so those systems function the way they’re supposed to.
This isn’t optional. It’s required by most vehicle manufacturers after any windshield replacement on ADAS-equipped cars. We handle the calibration on-site during the same appointment as your glass replacement, using the right targets and diagnostic tools. You don’t need to schedule a separate trip to the dealership or wait days for another technician to finish the job.
Most comprehensive auto insurance policies cover glass damage, and most of those cover mobile service the same way they’d cover a shop visit. If a rock cracks your windshield or someone smashes your window, that’s typically a comprehensive claim with either no deductible or a reduced one depending on your policy.
New York allows for full glass coverage endorsements, which means some policies cover windshield replacement with zero out-of-pocket cost. Others have a deductible, usually between $100 and $500. Either way, we bill the work directly to your insurance company so you’re not fronting the cost and waiting for reimbursement.
The process is straightforward. You provide your insurance information, we verify it, and we file the claim on your behalf. If there’s a deductible, you’re told exactly what that is before any work starts. If your policy covers it fully, you pay nothing. There’s no runaround, no surprise bills later, and no need to deal with your insurance company yourself unless you want to.
The actual replacement takes about an hour to ninety minutes depending on the vehicle. If your car has an ADAS camera that needs calibration, add another thirty to sixty minutes for that process. So you’re looking at roughly two to three hours total from start to finish.
The bigger time factor is the cure time for the adhesive. Modern urethane adhesives need at least an hour—sometimes longer depending on temperature and humidity—before the car is safe to drive. That’s not a suggestion, it’s a safety requirement. If you drive too soon, the windshield can shift or the seal can fail, and then you’re back to square one.
You don’t have to sit there and watch. Most people go back inside, keep working, or handle whatever else they need to do while we work. We’ll tell you exactly when it’s safe to drive again before we leave. For North Hempstead’s climate, cure times are pretty predictable except in winter when cold temperatures can extend the wait slightly.
Repair works for small chips and cracks—usually anything smaller than a dollar bill and not directly in the driver’s line of sight. A specialized resin gets injected into the damaged area, filling the crack and restoring structural integrity. It’s faster and cheaper than replacement, and most insurance companies cover it with no deductible.
Replacement is necessary when the damage is too large, when it’s in the driver’s view, or when the crack has spread to the edge of the glass. At that point, the windshield’s structural integrity is compromised and repair won’t hold. The entire piece of glass gets removed and replaced with new OEM or OEM-equivalent glass.
Here’s the real difference that matters to you: repair takes about thirty minutes and you can drive right away. Replacement takes a few hours including cure time, but it’s the only option that actually fixes the problem when the damage is severe. If you’re not sure which one you need, a quick photo of the damage usually makes it clear. Most people know within a few seconds of describing it over the phone.
Same-day service is available for most vehicles if you call early enough in the day and the glass is in stock. Common makes and models—Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevy—almost always have glass available locally. Less common vehicles or luxury cars with specialized glass might take a day or two to source.
Emergency situations get prioritized. If your windshield is shattered and the car isn’t safe to drive, we handle that as quickly as possible, usually within a few hours. If it’s a small crack that’s not urgent, we schedule around your availability and when the glass arrives.
The mobile setup means there’s more flexibility than a shop. No need to drop your car off and wait days for an opening. If the glass is ready and there’s an open window in the schedule, we get it done that day. North Hempstead, Manhasset, Great Neck—anywhere in the service area works. You’re not stuck waiting around for a week because the shop is backed up or because they’re waiting on parts that got delayed.
The lifetime warranty covers any installation-related issues for as long as you own the vehicle. If the seal leaks, if there’s a whistle or wind noise that wasn’t there before, if the glass shifts or cracks due to improper installation—we fix it at no cost.
That doesn’t cover new damage from rocks, accidents, or anything unrelated to the original installation. But if the work itself fails, you’re not paying twice. You call, explain what’s happening, and we address it. No argument, no “that’s not covered” runaround.
This matters more than it sounds like it should. Windshield installation isn’t just slapping glass in place. The adhesive has to cure properly, the seal has to be watertight, and the glass has to sit flush with the frame. When any of that goes wrong, you end up with leaks during North Hempstead’s heavy rains or wind noise on the LIE. A lifetime warranty means you’re not stuck dealing with that on your own dime if something wasn’t done right the first time.
