You don’t have time to sit in a shop for three hours while someone replaces your windshield. You’ve got work, errands, kids to pick up. That’s why our service comes to you—your driveway, your office parking lot, wherever makes sense.
Most jobs wrap up the same day. Chips and cracks get fixed in under an hour. Full windshield replacements with ADAS calibration take longer, but you’re not waiting around—you’re doing what you need to do.
And here’s what matters most: your car’s safety systems work the way they’re supposed to after the job’s done. If your vehicle has a front-facing camera—and most cars from the last few years do—that camera needs recalibration after a windshield replacement. Skip that step and your automatic braking or lane departure warnings might not function when you need them. That’s not a small thing. It’s the difference between a fender bender and something worse.
First Class Auto Glass has been serving Hauppauge, Suffolk County, and Nassau County since 2016. Before that, over 20 years in the industry. You’re working with someone who’s done this thousands of times, not a rotating crew of technicians who barely know your name.
Every job comes with a lifetime warranty. Not because it sounds good in an ad, but because the work holds up. We’re Dinitrol certified, a New York State certified mobile repair shop—the credentials matter, but what matters more is that you’re dealing with the owner directly.
Hauppauge drivers deal with plenty—Route 347 traffic, Long Island Expressway debris, winter storms that crack windshields overnight. You need someone local who understands what breaks glass around here and how to fix it fast without the runaround.
You call or text with your issue—chip, crack, full windshield replacement, sunroof repair, whatever it is. You’ll get a straight answer about what’s needed, how long it takes, and what it costs. If insurance covers it, we handle the paperwork directly. Most Long Island drivers pay nothing out of pocket.
Then our mobile unit comes to you. Hauppauge, Smithtown, Ronkonkoma—anywhere in Suffolk or Nassau County. We show up with the right glass, the right tools, and everything needed to do the job on-site.
For a chip or small crack, repairs usually finish in 20 to 30 minutes. For a full windshield replacement, expect a couple of hours—that includes removal, installation, and letting the adhesive cure properly. If your car has ADAS, calibration happens after the glass is in. That’s either a static calibration done right there or a dynamic calibration that involves a short test drive. Both methods meet manufacturer specs. You’re not guessing if it’s done right—it is.

Our service covers windshield repair and replacement, side window replacement, rear window replacement, sunroof repair, and ADAS camera calibration. If it’s glass on your vehicle and it’s broken, we fix it.
Hauppauge sits right in the middle of Long Island’s busiest corridors. You’ve got commercial traffic on Veteran’s Highway, construction zones, and weather that swings from summer storms to winter freeze. All of that puts stress on auto glass. Cracks spread fast when temperatures drop. A small chip turns into a spiderweb overnight.
ADAS calibration is becoming the norm, not the exception. By 2025, about 75% of vehicles on Long Island roads will have forward-facing cameras. That means three out of four windshield replacements will require recalibration. Some shops skip it or tell you it’s optional. It’s not. Every major car manufacturer requires it after windshield work. You’re getting it done here because it’s part of the job, not an upsell.
Insurance typically covers the full cost if you carry comprehensive coverage. New York doesn’t mandate free windshield replacement like some states, so your deductible depends on your policy. But most customers in Suffolk County pay zero after insurance processes the claim.
Yes. If your car has a forward-facing camera mounted near the rearview mirror, recalibration isn’t optional—it’s required by the vehicle manufacturer.
That camera controls systems like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warnings, and forward collision alerts. When the windshield comes off, even if the camera doesn’t move, the angle and positioning change enough to throw off the calibration. A few millimeters of difference means your car might not brake when it should or might alert you incorrectly.
Some techs will tell you it’s fine without recalibration. They’re wrong, and you’re the one taking the risk. Calibration takes extra time and equipment, so shops that can’t do it will downplay the importance. Don’t skip it. Your safety systems only work if they’re calibrated to manufacturer specs after any windshield work.
A full windshield replacement usually takes about two hours from start to finish, including ADAS calibration if your vehicle needs it. That’s removal, installation, adhesive curing, and calibration.
Chip repairs are much faster—typically 20 to 30 minutes. Small cracks might take 45 minutes depending on length and location. The mobile service means you’re not sitting in a waiting room. You can be inside your house, at your office, or handling other things while we do the work in your driveway or parking lot.
The adhesive needs time to cure before you drive the vehicle. Most modern urethanes set enough for safe driving within an hour, but full cure takes 24 hours. You’ll get clear instructions on when it’s safe to drive and what to avoid in the first day—like car washes or rough roads that could stress the seal before it’s fully set.
Most comprehensive auto insurance policies in New York cover windshield repair and replacement, but whether you pay a deductible depends on your specific policy. New York isn’t a zero-deductible state for auto glass, so some drivers pay nothing and others pay their deductible amount.
The easiest way to find out is to provide your insurance information upfront. We file the claim directly and you’ll know immediately what you owe, if anything. Most customers across Suffolk County end up paying zero out of pocket.
If you do have a deductible, it’s often waived for chip repairs since those are cheaper to fix than full replacements. Insurance companies would rather pay $100 to fix a chip now than $500 to replace the whole windshield later. Either way, you’ll know the cost before any work starts. No surprises, no bills showing up weeks later.
It depends on the size, location, and type of damage. Chips smaller than a quarter and cracks shorter than three inches can usually be repaired. Anything larger, anything in the driver’s direct line of sight, or anything that’s reached the edge of the windshield typically requires full replacement.
Repairs work by injecting a clear resin into the damaged area. The resin bonds with the glass and stops the crack from spreading. It’s not invisible, but it’s much less noticeable than the original damage and it restores structural integrity. Most repairs take under 30 minutes and cost a fraction of replacement.
If the damage is too severe to repair safely, replacement is the only option. You don’t want to drive around with compromised glass. A weakened windshield won’t protect you properly in a collision and it could fail completely if you hit another pothole on the LIE. When in doubt, you’ll get an honest assessment of whether repair is safe or if replacement is necessary.
Static calibration happens while the vehicle is parked. We set up a calibration target in front of the car at a specific distance and height, then use the vehicle’s diagnostic system to align the camera to that target. It’s done right in your driveway or parking lot and takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
Dynamic calibration requires driving the vehicle at specific speeds on clear road markings so the camera can recalibrate itself by reading lane lines and other vehicles. This method takes longer because it involves a test drive, usually 15 to 20 minutes of highway driving under the right conditions.
Which method your car needs depends on the make and model. Some manufacturers require static, some require dynamic, and some require both. Our equipment handles both types, so whatever your vehicle needs, it gets done correctly. You’re not being sent somewhere else or told to drive to a dealership. It’s all part of the mobile service.
Our mobile service covers all of Suffolk County and Nassau County, plus parts of Queens. Hauppauge, Smithtown, Commack, Ronkonkoma, Nesconset, Islandia—anywhere within reasonable range gets same-day or next-day service depending on the schedule.
Being based in Hauppauge means faster response times for the surrounding towns. You’re not waiting three days for an appointment or getting pushed to the end of the week because you’re outside the main service zone. Most calls get handled within 24 hours.
If you’re not sure whether your location is covered, just ask. The goal is to make this as convenient as possible. You shouldn’t have to drive across Long Island with a cracked windshield to get it fixed. We come to you, handle the work on-site, and you’re done without leaving your driveway.
